The Attorney General

The current Attorney General is Dr Victoria Buttigieg B.A., LL.D, M.A. (Fin. Serv.).

Dr Buttigieg graduated with a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2001, obtained her warrant in 2002 and her Master of Laws in Financial Services in 2004. 

In 2002 she started her professional career as junior lawyer within the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure, in 2007 joined the Office of the Attorney General as lawyer and in 2012 was appointed Assistant Attorney General.  Dr Buttigieg was, in 2019, appointed as the first State Advocate and on the 9th September 2020 she was appointed Attorney General.
