Between 15 and 19 June, prosecutors from the Office attended a 3-day conference on non-conviction based (NCB) confiscation and the taxation of criminal proceeds, with special emphasis on the freezing and confiscation regime as contemplated in the Proceeds of Crime Act (Chapter 621 of the Laws of Malta). This conference was organised in collaboration with the NCC, the Malta Police Force and the Asset Recovery Bureau, with the contribution of former US federal prosecutor and leading expert in money laundering law and asset forfeiture Stefan Cassella.
