Two prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General (Dr Antoine Agius Bonnici and Dr Kenneth Camilleri) attended the Asset Recovery Exchange session held in London between the 13th and 14th September 2023 together with Latvian and Cypriot delegates.
During these two days, the delegates became familiar with the main UK legislative framework, including the pertinent roles of the different agencies in the fight against crime. The delegates collectively examined the main issues and discussed good practices surrounding asset recovery in every jurisdiction.
During the visit the importance of non-conviction based confiscation (civil forfeiture) and international cooperation was also discussed.
